Amahl & the Night Visitors

AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS

The entire community is invited to attend this beautiful and moving story that will continue to inspire generations to come of the real meaning of Christmas!

On Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 3:00 P.M., St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Delray Beach will present a live musical performance in the church sanctuary entitled, “AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS.” This performance is put on by the members of the St. Vincent Ferrer Parish choirs, under the direction of Eric Keiper, Choirmaster. A light reception will follow in Kellaghan Hall, located in building G.

The Advent-Christmas themed one-hour presentation was written by famed Italian-American composer, Gian Carlo Menotti (1911-2007), with some assistance by the American composer, Samuel Barber. It tells the story of the Three Wise Men on their way to Bethlehem, as they paused in their journey to rest at the home of a poor, lame shepherd boy and his widowed mother. Appropriate for the Advent season, it has been a seasonal classic since first being performed on NBC television on Christmas Eve, 1951. The English libretto was written in a style that would help all audience levels to appreciate it.
